Irelandopedia by John Burke and illustrated by Fatti Burke is an interesting and fun look into Ireland’s geography, native flora, fauna and culture. After reading and loving the Burke’s other books: Historopedia and Foclóiropedia earlier this year, I was eager to read this one.

Mainly focusing on Ireland’s counties; each county has a double page spread, which features interesting facts about the people and places of note from each part of Ireland, as well as a few pages on Ireland’s native flora, fauna, animals, Irish hobbies and traditions. All of the information is presented brilliantly; it is clear and concise, along with Fatti Burke’s fun and colourful illustrations, which complement the text perfectly.

As Irelandopedia is primarily written for children, it isn’t hugely in-depth; some significant locations and information haven’t been included, however, it is fairly concise and great for those who want to learn more about Irish geography and culture.

Irelandopedia is another fantastic book by the father-daughter duo and I look forward to reading more of their work. I would highly recommend it for children and adults, Irish and non-Irish alike.
