I have never been disappointed by anything this author has written. However, I was worried about reading this because I saw several people express their frustration that this book, as a standalone, could have been made into a series. I actually really appreciate the fact that the author kept this as a standalone story. Given the nature of the characters and the difficulties they faced, it seemed fitting to give them the send off she did.

Loved the characters, loved the story, but I wish there had been more development. For once, I wish the book had been LONGER so there could be more development instead of things just... happening...

I did not truly know what to expect when I started reading this book, but, it did deliver on all levels. It's dark & gritty and then comes with this romance that makes it all worth the while.

Well done.

I loved, loved, loved this book. It was a quick read, but so much happens. I really wish we didn't have to leave the world of the Narrows and Bastian so soon. Bryn is a nice dichotomy to the traditional Roths, finding out how to be part of this family that she wasn't raised with. I'm so happy to see Ezra find his way as well. Would definitely recommend to fans of Fable and Namesake.

There just really didn't seem to be a whole lot to this, and I didn't like it anywhere near as much as the Fable duology. I also wasn't feeling the instalove. That said, I was entertained for the most part.

I was expecting a lot from such a small book and it didn't quite deliver. A good quick read if that's what you're looking for.

i really enjoy adrienne’s writing, but this wasn’t as good as fable and namesake. still an enjoyable read, but some parts were a bit bland, and some underdeveloped (especially the romance).
