Goddd, this one was painful but also so, so, good. Wren and Holt's story is full of tragedy and I could really understand both of their ways of dealing with happened. I love how Holt never stopped fighting to get Wren back and of course, how protective he constantly was 🤭 Can already tell I'll love all the characters in this series!

for me, this one was just okay … and I feel like this is an unpopular booksta opinion 😅

I’m very much in my romantic suspense era - so I’ve been scouring for book recs and this one has been all over booktok and booksta so delaney and I decided to give it a try!! and sadly, it didn’t live up to the hype for us 😭😭

the romance plot was very chaotic and borderline cringey for me. wren had her heart broken 10 years ago by her childhood sweetheart holt, and now that he’s back in town determined to win over her heart, she just … gives in? like where was the groveling? where was the explanation of each other’s feelings and hurt over ten freaking years?

what really kept me going was the suspense plot, though! I loved super sleuthing the whodunnit, and while the ending wasn’t my favorite conclusion, I was racing through the chapters to figure out what happened next!! however, I do feel that the author threw in elements of surprise just to screw with the readers’ minds too 🤔

overall, I did enjoy reading this one a lot, but it’s not memorable to me. I may or may not continue this series - stay tuned!
