This volume did a great job of expanding on the knowledge we learn in the first book and it introduces new and interesting characters. I especially like seeing some of the things Trellis goes through in this book and knowing the events to come in future books this is very interesting to re read.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. There is something about his style that really attracts me, and some of the two full page images are really nice. The only problem is some of the cliches: magic ninja fox type character being the biggest offender. The dialogue is often clunky and also a little too grandiose and every fantasy cliche. But really who reads these for the dialog?

I am drawn in to this world! I love all there characters, and the story is great. All the elements are working together.
plus, I am still blown away by the artwork.

ERMAGHERD SO GOOD! I have to have Vol. 3 ASAP! My local library did not have the third volume (BLASPHEMY!) so now I have to wait awhile until the copy I requested comes in...along with the rest of the series, lmao!

Overall, this was an excellent sequel to Amulet, Vol. 1: The Stonekeeper, and I can't wait to see what's in store for the coming novels. Something else I find, is that this is very much like Avatar: The Last Airbender in how it is structured and the villains. This isn't a bad thing--it's actually a very good thing, because I loved Avatar.

And I kind of love Prince Trellis, and Leon Redbeard, and EVERYONE EVER!
