Twists & turns & corruption by rich people. Another easy read by Kellerman that keeps you wondering who, why and how. I still can't figure out why we need all the detailed descriptions of clothing though.
Kellerman is just consistent. What more can you say. he writes a good book with characters you have come to know and really like.
In Deception, things are not what they seem. A female teacher at a prestigious prep school is found dead in a tub of dry ice. The police also discover a dvd with a video from Freeman alleging sexual harassment and abuse from 3 teachers at the school. To further complicate matters, the Chief of Polices' son attends the same prep school and this has the potential to damage careers.
Enter Milo Strugis , who in recent books has become a go to guy for the Chief. But, it seems in this case that Milo's hands are tied in what he can and can't do.
Along with Alex Delaware the investigation seems to take twists and turns with various suspects.. A Freeman's loser boyfriend, a impoverished young Mexican pitcher brought to the Prep school to win, former graduates of the prep school, all with one thing in common. many of the students were tutored by Freeman and Freeman's behaviors seem to be quite in contrast to her dvd.
A thread of social commentary runs through the book of the pitfalls of privileged youth and the entitlements they receive as well as those who shepherd them.

An Alex Cross thriller after a long while. I like following the lives of my favorite characters - and Alex Cross is one among them. Milo too. Here, a middle aged female teacher who privately tutors rich students for SATs is found dead, covered with solid ice in her bath tub. There is a tussle between homicide and suicide. Milo Sturgis is given the task to prove either way, accompanied by his friend, the private psychologist Alex Cross. They delve into the case and come up with many nasty truths. Finally the mystery is solved. Was a taut thriller which was interesting throughout, except perhaps the penultimate few pages. Proclivities of students as well as teacher was shocking
This one was set in LA and had me looking forward to my summer Jackie Collins reading. I don't know what that says about this book haha. Another detective/thriller page turner. The investigation team was a detective and doctor duo, which was fun. This was the 25th book this author has written with this detective at the helm. While I enjoyed it I don’t think I’d read the rest as I have a suspicion they all follow a pretty similar formula. Again, I don’t remember being blown away by the outcome but it was an engaging detective who-dunit.

Re-read. Not as formulaic as many of his books, but not terrible.

I don't really know why I continue to read these. There is less character development, and in fact, less character in each new one. And this one didn't even have a good climactic ending. Not enough effort is being put into each one anymore.
I got this book as an audio from the library, which I listened to whilst walking the dog. The book was so good that we ended up walking for hours!
This one definitely felt phoned in. It was a diversion for a few hours, but it's one of those where you can tell he's just trying to keep up the "one book a year" pace at the expense of the writing.
