It was interesting to read a Warriors book from the perspective of a villain and helped give a lot more background on what Tigerclaw did upon his exile. All in all, it was an interesting read.

Not only is this enjoyably written with the kind of over-the-top dramatic internal monologue that should be expected of Tigerclaw, it does a great job of filling in all the missing gaps between Forest of Secrets and A Dangerous Path. I love how sensitively ShadowClan is treated here, and how we get a totally different view of Tigerclaw’s takeover that largely vindicates ShadowClan and gives better context for so many later events and character choices.

Definitely one of the strongest and most necessary of the novellas!

God I hate Tigerstar.

This bridged a small gap created by the main series about how Tigerclaw took charge of ShadowClan, but in my opinion this was not one of the better novellas. I didn't like it as much as the others and I think I'm maybe a little bored with the whole Tigerstar plotline?

Idk it was cool to see some of rogues and how ShadowClan came to accept him but I probably could have done without it.

It makes me mad when continuity isn’t maintained, nor are characters behaving like themselves in further stories. This one was a major continuity issue.

So, Tigerclaw is super against kittypet blood in ThunderClan, therefore he hates Fireheart and Bluestar for being soft in leadership and trusting so closely in Fireheart. Okay, so then why is Tigeclaw completely okay with Russetfur, Boulder, Jaggedtooth, and Mowgli being ex-loners (and thus kittypet-descended) in his adoptive clan…? He never gives them a hard time, and even comments on Russetfur’s abilities..? Like cmon he either hates kittypets or he doesn’t. He’s so hell-bent on purging mixed blood cats once he takes over RiverClan, so, again, why are these mixed ShadowClan cats okay to him…?

Also why is this the first time he meets Mapleshade when he’s been guided by her, unbeknownst to him up to this point evidently? It just doesn’t make sense within pre-existing canon.

Am I missing something? Probably not.

well at least tigerclaw is more bearable as a protagonist than fireheart... mind you the former is literally a villain

Not bad but it should be a Super Edition... seriously.
