Hunger

600 pages was a bit much for me. It was hard to get to know some of the characters since was the second book in the series, but it had a lot of action and read pretty fast. I'm tempted to read the third one, but we'll see. Good for fans of scifi/fantasy.

This second installation did not disappoint! The theme is still good vs. evil, but now, the element of hunger is forced upon the surviving children. As desperation are true realities for some, their starvation influences changing alliances. The main characters remain at the centre, but M. Grant (expertly) further develops the story, by providing clues for FAYZ's situation. The mutation of humans results in incredible abilities experienced by some children, now labelled "mooks"--a word combo of mutant freaks. Their abilities set them apart and result in further divisions in their little community. Yes, a YA novel, but a totally clever one; one that treats its readers like they have brains.

Rereading this series gives me an opportunity to appreciate things I didn't notice when I was younger. Not only is the world incredibly complex, but all of the conflicts and issues are realistic for kids and teenagers to be dealing with. All of the characters are young, and as such, they say and do problematic things. None of them are perfect. And seeing the story from each characters' POV makes for such an interesting book. I devoured this book and was reminded of why it's one of my favorites from this series (the other favorite is Plague).

I am really enjoying this series. If I were 20 years younger, I would be madly obsessed with it. It's gritty and gruesome at times, and it's cool. A series I think a lot of YA will love.

this is the second book in the Gone series, and although it was bad ass on it's own, it was not as good as the first book Gone.

But still a great read

A great second book in the series, love the social aspects and developments between the groups, looking forward to seeing where the story goes next.
