There were some parts that I was kind of confused as to what was going on because things happened so fast at point, but overall it was a really good book. I do feel like the relationship was a little forced between David and Jess (
Spoiler did it all develop simply because he placed it in her mind to trust him?
) especially since they didn't really know each other when she decided to help him no matter the cost. But it wasn't a deal-breaker on the book. It was a very enjoyable read. I need to find me a hot alien boy
I'm excited to see how the story progresses in the next book.

Read this book for Ben's book club. It's a story about a teenage girl who falls for a sexy alien. It was a fast read and could be great for middle grade. There will be a sequel.

This book.... well, I'm just going to say it wasn't entirely my cup of tea. The entire time I found myself comparing it to Alienated by Melissa Landers which I really love. The bones of the story are good and the concept is good, but there were just some big things that I wasn't able to get over.

I do think the book is good overall. I think it would translate very well into a Disney movie, and I think it is best suited for younger YA readers. I think people who really enjoy alien books with a little action and a little romance would also enjoy it. Despite my lukewarm feelings towards this book, I will be reading the second book because I think the series overall will be enjoyable.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read the first two books in this series over the course of two days, basically. My actual reading time was probably 4 hours total. Because I was so in love with the concept and the writing and the characters that I couldn't put it down. This is shaping up to be one of my new favourite alien invasion stories and I cannot wait to see where the next book goes!

I thought this was a really good example of the dialogue feeling like an actual teenager. As well, I just fully believed the plot of FIRE IN THE WOODS because I too would run away with a hot alien to find other aliens no matter what. One of my complaints about this one was that Jess censored herself from swearing, even in her head, which I thought was a bit too much. I think she definitely would have censored what she said aloud, especially around her military father, but I do not think she would have censored her thoughts.

I thought there was a good amount of action, but I think it should have and could have happened sooner rather than Jess having David stay in her house twice and try to cook and all the other mundane activities that took place. Considering there was instalove, there was enough time from when Jess first met David to the second time she meets him for her to be fully convinced to follow him wherever.

I liked Jess' relationship with her father. I think it was an accurate portrayal of a father-daughter relationship. I also just really liked her dad? I bet he is a silver fox.

I would have liked more time to be spent on the ending. I think there was enough urgency in the end but not enough resolution. I would have liked a bit more of a solidified ending; there wasn't enough of a clear picture of what was going to happen next from the ending in my opinion. I do highly recommend this one. Start this series now.

Jess dreams of being a professional photographer but he dad is less than thrilled by the prospect. When a plane crashes in the woods near the base he tells her to stay home but how can she miss the chance to get the shot so she sneaks out. It’s when she sneaks out that she encounters her perfect guy who has all the celebrity features she likes. But there is something different about him but she’s not sure what exactly. When he finds her in his home it’s clear to Jess that maybe he’s not the human guy she first thought but something out of this world. As the truth comes out it’s clear that David isn’t human and he needs help getting to the retrieval place and Jess is the only one who can help him.

Knowing she will upset her father Jess takes the risk and flee’s the base barely escaping with David who they are already hunting for. The pair travel in her friend’s car but are forced to ditch is when they are caught by the military police. Running into the woods they barely escape but things are far from over. It’s clear the Jess that David knows more than he is letting on but she knows she can trust him. Will they get him back to the retrieval zone in time before it’s too late? What about the secret that he’s hiding from her? What about the feelings Jess has growing the more time she spends with David?

I liked Jess as a character she’s a good person with a good heart will to help David even if it was dangerous. I also really liked David for Jess after all he looks just like her dream guy but he’s not a bad guy at all. I really found their relationship sweet starting out as just helping someone who needed help to falling in love. I really found the chemistry between the two works really well, it wasn’t insta love but it did happen fast but it worked.

I’ve had this one on my kindle for a while but decided I had to have the paperback it was to pretty not to add to my collection. I wasn’t sure what to expect really because it’s been a while since I read the synopsis other than an alien romance. Fire in the Woods is one of those books that grabs you by the first page and doesn’t let go till the very end. I found the story fresh and exciting the concept is captivating and I enjoyed every minute of the book. I really enjoyed the authors writing style it was fun, well written and flow smoothly it was easy to get lost. The characters are well written I found it easy to connect with Jess and David they quickly stole a spot in my heart. This is my first book by the author but I’m a huge fan of her story telling it’s a beautifully written book and I can’t wait to read the next one. I haven’t read a lot of alien books but this is my new favorite. A must for any Sci fi romance fans. On a side not the base where this all takes place happens to be a base we could end up at on the off chance. I wonder if I will find David and Jess hanging around. Just to recap I loved Fire in the Woods.

I will never get tired of hot aliens-EVER! This is no exception to my love and fascination of aliens and space. All I can think about though is how would my alien look? Since he took the good parts of all Jess's dream guys. Hmm...not sure because I have a ton of celebrity crushes so I'd probably pass out from total hotness overload. Anyway more about the book and less about a combination of all of my crushes but first do anime characters count? Okay I'm done.

Jess lives on a military base with her Dad when one day a plane "crashes" in the woods not far from her house. The photographer in Jess sends her outside against her father's wishes to capture moments of the fire in the woods. She stumbles upon an injured guy that looks a lot like her celebrity crush and she can't help herself. Before she knows what she's doing she's helping David sneak into her house. When word gets out that they are searching for a person that survived the crash it doesn't take Jess long to put two and two together. But David has more secrets than Jess expected and without a second thought Jess is ready to help the hottie from the woods.

I liked Jess and David and the romantic in me was rooting for them hardcore. Seriously who wouldn't root for them? They are the star crossed lovers that everyone loves to read about. I did think Jess was way too trusting of the guy that she found in the woods, did she never watch the news or forensic files? I understand that was David's doing with his mind thing but still she never gave a second thought about him.

It was kind of freaky how many times her Dad and the military were able to find them when they were on the run. Also kind of cool, well it would have been if they were not trying to ruin Jess and David. Maggie was a funny character, I just wish she was more involved with the story.

The ending, holy cliffhanger batman. Ugh, I hate cliffhangers so much. Why can't every story just end happily? Okay, enough whining, even though there was a cliffhanger it was still good and well worth the read. If you like aliens then pick this book up, you won't regret it.

this book probably would have got 4.5-5/5 stars if it wasn't for the insta-love. I liked the characters, and the interactions between them. the aliens were interesting (even though they weren't totally explained - book 2 in hoping), and their interactions with the humans seemed realistic. I thought the writing was really good, and it flowed really well. my biggest complaint though, was the fact that Jess and David were so instantly attached. like I know he made her trust him or whatever, but still. it was a little much. otherwise though, I really liked it! just a really quick, entertaining read! also, bonus points for the main character having the same name as me.

Ooooh. ALIENS!!!

giphy

Oh but he doesn't look like that though. Yep, you guessed it. He's Hot! Which is never really a bad thing (for me at least) This reminds me so much of Kyle XY and the start of Smallville. Are you guys familiar with that? A big unexplainable thing has exploded and the next thing you know there's a weird and good looking guy hunching in the woods! To bad for Junie because her Dad is the head of the team that's looking for your alien. That would really suck.

Fire In The Woods have a really interesting and intriguing plot. And I was pretty much invested the whole way even though it was a little slow for me. Jessy's voice isn't really that hard to understand and I just flowed throught out the story because of her easy and simple voice. David on the other hand left me with a big question mark. To say that I'm intrigued is an understatement. I want to know more. And by the way things ended, I'm pretty sure I'll be devouring the next book when it comes out. WHO ENDS BOOK LIKE THAT???! Oh yeah... every author does.

The story is really well thought but it was a little slow for my liking. It took like 8 to 10 chapters before the real action happens. I know that it's necessary for the characters to be introduced to us but I just think that it took so long that some chapters were just unnecessary. I was pressing the next button like crazy when things started moving though. I wanna know what happens next and where Jessy and and Davids relationship will go next.  Okay, so I'm really a big fan of the romance here (no surprise there, I guess) but really, even though it ended that way.. I'm rooting for this two. I shipped them from the start and no one will stop me now!

Overall, Fire In The Woods is a enjoyable Sci-Fi read for me. Though I had some little problems, I'm really looking forward for the sequel! Hot alien, quirky heroine and exciting plot.. what's not to like?

That was an extremely well executed first book. I loved the characters and the way we found out things over time. I'm excited to continue.
