Sam Capra doesn't have a lot of friends, so when Steve Robles is murdered outside his bar in Miami, Sam vows to punish the assassins. This hunt takes him to the Varelas' family and the young woman Steve was trying to protect, Cordelia Varelas, the youngest of the three Varelas siblings. Cori's twin, Edwin was kidnapped four years ago and never seen again. As Sam penetrates deeper into the family, he uncovers a lot of secrets no one wanted to have come out. Rey Varelas, when he started FastFlex air transport, did a lot of illegal things. Now, the business has transitioned into legitimate air transport, but the underside still remains lucrative; it is being run by Zhanna, an adopted Varelas sibling. Galo, the oldest sibling runs the legitimate side. No one really is as they appear on the surface; lies and secrets are a way of life. A few too many slick transitions for my taste, but Abbott writes an adrenaline-laced read.
