What another fun and enjoyable read in The Vers Podcast universe! Marcus and Kai are a wonderfully cute grumpy/sunshine couple. Marcus is the total “Daddy” of the group as we’ve seen repeatedly throughout the series. Because of his upbringing he needs to be needed. The problem is, when he’s always there for everyone, who is there for him? Kai is! Other than the other Beach Bums, Kai is the only person who can see through to the center of him. Kai is used to being seen as “too much” by friends and hookups and resigns himself to short lived flings as it seems no one wants him around for the long term. Kai ends up moving into Marcus’ guest room when he has to move out of his apartment and the little sparks between them that have been there previously quickly explode into a full blown inferno.
I’m sad there’s only one book left in what has been a fun, low angst, s3xy series.I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I loved Marcus and Kai together, and I was SO CLOSE to giving five stars, but I just didn't 'feel' any connection to the characters.
Both characters were interesting and felt like real well-rounded people, I love their relationships with the other Vers guys and their families. Oh and the fish - so cute!
I'm really not sure why I couldn't connect to the emotions of the story though. Maybe it's my sleep deprivation from having a kid who hates to sleep at the moment!
I am so excited for Corbin's story though, I have been patiently waiting for him to get his HEA and I'm intrigued by what I think his story will be focusing on.

2.75 stars. This series is kinda like marvel movies: it's entertaining, has fun characters and dynamics, but the overused formula gets boring and also it kinda sucks when you think about it. Kai and Marcus were cute together I guess, despite the awful dialogue and the weird pacing. Also all the Vers boys being love virgins at 35 yo is boring, give me something else, this is like a broken record.
Kai's conflict with him moving to another city was so useless, it was just there to kick his relationship with Marcus into action. But it's kind of irrelevant during the whole book and when his friend cancels on him, it feels like such a cheap way out that confirms that this just wasn't needed at all. If you wanted to stick to the "oh no he is going to move out how are they going to maintain their brand new relationship", make KAI make a decision, in addition to being super predictable, this held zero value to Kai's development. Marcus' accident to push them to confess was so dumb. The ending was so rushed, and tried to tie all the loose ends (Kai's future, Marcus' relationship with his parents'...).
It started off as fine, they had cute moments, but as a whole it's just so damn boring. I am not sure what to expect of Corbin's book, but at this point I'll just read it to get it over with

Marcus and Kai's story was adorably sweet and very down-to-earth, just as I expected from the Realist of the Vers crew. I had so much fun watching practical, realistic Marcus get swept away by the passion and romance of his fling with Kai, especially because he had a mile long list of reasons why they wouldn't work out before they'd even kissed. Seeing him throw caution to the wind all because he couldn't resist Kai's delightful flirting was thrilling, and I absolutely loved their relationship dynamic. Kai was sassy and bold and not afraid to speak up when Marcus was being overprotective, but also Daddy M's eager baby boy between the sheets. Their sexy moments were out of this world, too hot for words to adequately describe them, and I could NOT get enough of their chemistry. But their relationship went so much deeper than a spicy fling--Marcus and Kai got to know each other, shared their ups and downs, met each other's friends and family, and balanced each other out better than I ever could have imagined. I can't say enough good things about the way they made me feel as they navigated life together, first as friends, then eventually as lovers. From being attentive fish parents to hosting pool parties with the Vers crew and planning sweet nights of stargazing to distract from a down day, Kai and Marcus took over my heart with every big and small token of affection they shared. The two of them made me a believer in their love before they'd even admitted it to themselves, even when their inevitable separation loomed over them and it didn't seem like there was a path for them to stay together. The buildup of their feelings was equal parts overwhelming and calming, and when Marcus and Kai agreed to be boyfriends even knowing Kai was planning to move away, I knew that was a sign of their permanence as a couple. Life had a few twists in store to put the pressure on the two of them to confess their feelings, and boy was it sweet to see them bravely lay it all on the line and have that love be openly reciprocated. I'm so starry eyed and pleased by how their journey ended, and there's no doubt in my mind that Marcus and Kai are one of those forever couples that everyone admires and envies.

I had two reasons why I started the third book first, firstly the man on the cover was the hottest and secondly, I saw a hint for the last book in the series on Rileys ig and knew I had to read it. While waiting for Corbin’s story I decided to see if there will be some short interactions between him and Spencer to satisfy me till the release.
With Rile's books, it's either a hit or miss for me. Literally. I can either be completely in love, to the point that I already want to re-read it when I'm done, or I've struggled to finish it, somehow enjoying some moments. This book is the second case.
There was a few stuff which made me rate this story two stars, so let’s move to them.
The first thing, questionable sentences and choices of words. Starting with words: "bust a nut", "load", "prick". They should be banned from all kinds of books.
Next. Marcus calling Corbin 'kid'. They were the same age. I know they knew each other since they were kids, but it was weird. I'm not even talking about their relationship. If my boyfriend had a best friend who cuddles up to him, he kisses him on the forehead and he was his first kiss, I don't know if I would survive it. I know he treated him like a family, but I could never.
Their relationship was sweet, but they could easily be together sooner if they just talked. Especially with the fact that Marcus was a grown ass men. He was thirty-five and wanted a no strings attached relationship. In real life it would a red flag. At least for me.
I read in someone else's review that their podcast conversations were unserious at times, and I couldn't agree more. The introduction made me laugh every time.
I probably (definitely) won't read the first two books because the blurb doesn't seem interesting to me, but the fourth book? September sixth couldn’t come sooner. There’s not enough mm books with plus size representation. Why they are all skinny with six packs? That's why I'm looking forward to Corbin and Spencer's book.

This is the 3rd entry into the Vers Podcast series, following a group of friends as they find love. This is Marcus and Kai's story, and I loved it. Kai is such a flirty little spitfire, who knows exactly what he wants and is going to get it. Marcus is the Realist of the title, or the Daddy as he's called by his friends in jest. He really is the caretaker of the group, and is always there for the others, whatever they need.
I wasn't sure about him at the start as I found him a little overbearing, but he does do things because he genuinely cares about people. Kai is the perfect foil for him, and I loved all their interactions. It's super flirty, fun and hot. Every time he calls Kai Baby boy, it's utterly perfect. I also adore the group friendship, and seeing that developing over the course of the books has been wonderful. I particularly loved Corbin and Marcus' relationship, and I do look forward to Corbin's story very much.
This was such a good read, all the feelings for Kai and Marcus, and a great entry to the series.
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
