Natasha Bowen is such a brilliant writer!! The descriptions were immersive and so well written, both of the places (the deep sea in the beginning? incredible) and the people and creatures that they encounter throughout the story. Simi is a fantastic character and I loved following her. She felt so realistic in her strengths and flaws and the ways that she related to other people. Her choice at the end was perfect and felt in line with Skin of the Sea. I also loved the ending sequence—normally I don’t like large battles that solve everything but this was done so well. It was extremely intense and was the right scale to match the rest of the series.
The middle of the book is a bit of a generic plot where they have a time limit to find a thing and then do something, but I liked the writing and the character dynamics enough that I didn’t mind too much.
Overall I loved this book and will be reading anything and everything Natasha Bowen writes in the future!!

I liked the first book a lot better than this one. It wasn’t bad, I just ..I don’t know m. I felt the need to not finish around the 75% mark. I did end up finishing and just thought okay well that’s that. Yay for a happy ending I guess.
Not grabbing my attention. May try to finish someday.

Really enjoyed coming back to this world. The character and mythology in this world are amazing! I find myself getting lost into the story each time I came back. Excited for the next one!
