Felt a bit like this book’s purpose was just to set up for a third installment in the series, so it often seemed stagnant, then full of action that resolved quickly, than stagnant again.

This was so good! Love this series so much. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. This was a great ending to the series. I can’t wait to read more about this author because she did her big one with this book.

The book had a bit of a slower start than I’d hoped, especially since it was a sequel starting off after a bit of a cliff hanger. Regardless, I really enjoyed this book. Beautifully tied up the series.

Everything clicked just too neatly for the impact of Book 1 to have any lasting effects.

4 stars...I thought this was a beautiful ending to Simidele's story. I love the whole black little mermaid storyline. I enjoyed this sequel. I laughed, I cried, and woohoo'd. There's magic, mermaids(Mami wata) and gods(orishas) and other supernatural beings, an adventure/quest and of course a cuddly elephant named Tunde. I enjoyed this dulogy and yes I would recommend it to readers who enjoy ya fantasy.

Loved this sequel to “Skin of the Sea.” All our favorite characters return to fight a power-hungry villain intent on releasing anti-gods of destruction, the agojun. We also get to meet several new orisas, leaving me wanting a D’Aulaire’s Book of West African Mythology to go alongside the Greek and Norse myths books I loved as a kid. This book also ended beautifully, with Simidele choosing herself — a lovely, modern take on the mermaid myths. Just wonderful all around.
