I honestly would have rated this lower on the writing alone, because some of it was ROUGH. But reading so many stories about Jews proudly celebrating Hanukkah warmed my heart, so I’m bumping the rating up.

I got this book as a gift for my mom - this is what she had to say:

I thoroughly enjoyed reading these stories. Each a tale of love found or love rekindled. I enjoyed the tales of interfaith romances from the early 19th century to the present day. I enjoyed the rekindling of romance when empty nesters have to learn to just be together without the kids. They are no longer a part of every day (and all-consuming) conversation and the parents have to find each other again. I enjoyed the story of close and trusting relationships as young children and then the trust is broken and years later reestablished.

All in all, there is something for everyone in these eight stories. Read one each night of Chanukah. As the lights of the Chanukiah shine, so will the stories in Eight Kisses.

I enjoyed the variety of stories in this book. It was lovely to see couples if different ages, experiences, and encounters.

Very spicy read, but quick I finished it in one day!

If you're in the mood for sweet holiday romances, you're in for a treat (and I LOVE the fact that these are all Hanukkah stories). With eight different authors there is a wide variety of writing styles- something for everyone!

My only criticism is that I wish the editing had been tighter. Little things, like missing quotation marks, missing words, etc. bumped me from the stories at least a few times. On the plus side, the writing was strong enough to pull me back in each time.

For those of us who celebrate Hanukkah, I suspect you will find your own traditions embedded in at least one of these stories (and who knows, maybe you'll find some new ways to celebrate...I know I did)! And if you don't celebrate Hanukkah, well, this book will give you a heartwarming look at our winter holiday in the same way I enjoy Christmas stories at this time of year.

I did receive an advance copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
