Another quick story of two men falling in love and making their way through a relationship despite struggles.

I received a free ebook copy through a Goodreads Giveaway courtesy of Brent (The Author). Thank you so much for this opportunity.

This book does deal with a couple of heavier topics (Though not that heavily in my opinion), but I will NOT be discussing these in my review.

(Mini) Synopsis:
Micheal, living with his cousin due to his less than perfect past, isn’t in any special place in life. He works, and that’s about it. When Micheal finds his truck missing, the officer sent to help just happens to be smoking hot. Both Micheal and Jason share one big thing in common: Their pasts have a way of creeping into their present lives, and it might just be about time to move forward.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find the story or the writing to be above average, so it didn’t in any way cling to me as something special, or something I would ultimately recommend to people. I know many people will indeed enjoy the story - it is certainly not entirely unenjoyable, even for me, but it personally didn’t end up being something I really enjoyed, so I feel there is no reason for me to say otherwise.

The story progresses through events fairly quickly, and character progression happens quite quickly in the literal story timeline as well. I’ve never really been fond of quick progression in a novel or in relationships. But I still accept stories when they do, as both are still somewhat common occurrences. The characters do hold a personality and a few quirks (I wouldn’t have been able to read through it to completion had they not), but nothing had me falling in love with the characters. The overall plot is extremely simple, the writing style, similarly so. And thus, the overall novel falls a little flat when it comes together. I have read too many others just like this to enjoy this any more than any of the others and recommend seeking out other books that have been highly recommended, or if you are up for an overly-simple read, by all means, go ahead - this might be for you.

For whatever reason, this reminded me ever-so-slightly of Glitterland by Alexis Hall, another book I think readers of The Officer’s Siren might enjoy. Both have a focus on mental health (Though Glitterland delves in a little more, I feel). Additionally, a book readers might enjoy if they’re okay delving even deeper into mental health, is The Silver Cage by Anonymous. That one I liked, and recently reread (and reviewed), so I’d recommend checking that out if you’re interested.

Until next time.

This is my opinion and never meant to completely discourage anyone from reading anything they think they may like reading. Good luck and happy reading!
