One Windy Day

Mr fox likes windy days but this blustery day makes it hard while he's delivering the mail. Learn opposites with fox on this windy day.

Edited June 5, 2023: My daughter picked this book out. She still loves it! We got it to fit one of the prompts for her Summer Reading Bingo! “Read a Book about a Community Helper”

This is a cute book about opposites. I picked this book out because it gave me Autumn feels.

My daughter enjoyed this book. She “helped” the mail person pick up the letters that the wind blew away.

There’s only about one word on each page, so it’s easy to read to little ones, and it teaches about opposites such as “up”, “down”, “left”, “right”, etc. The illustrations also, were beautiful. I just wish the story had been a little longer.

Fox the mailman loves windy days, but today’s blustery atmosphere keep making him make mistakes at his job. Letters get wet instead of dry, fall out of his bag instead of staying inside, go up in the air with the copper foil leaves on each spread instead of staying down in his hands, and land far instead of near him. Luckily, friendly creatures like worms, snails, chicks, frogs and rabbits help him catch everything, and all ends well, so that Fox can continue to like windy days. The book’s soft board book format can make circulation ill-advised, but the book itself is charming and informative for students PreK-K. If you have a limited budget, I'd skip this one and go for "Fletcher and the Falling Leaves" instead.
