Maybe This Time by Kasie West

I thought this book was okay. It fell flat with the fact that the book only takes place during holiday/town events. It loses some level of depth and character development. Honestly, I couldn’t figure out why these characters ended up liking each other. It was fluffy and easy but that’s pretty much it.

I loved the set up for this story, being told in the events. It was a nice build up. I felt the end was a bit rushed and could have maybe been hashed out a bit more but it was still a really cute and enjoyable story. The character development was great also.

This was just another good and sugary YA romance that I was all about.

This is one of my favorite contemporaries of the year! Maybe This Time is one of the most realistic contemporaries I've seen set in the YA light romance subgenre.

Sophie is a slightly frustrating main character but that's what makes her so real, and seeing her character development as events happen both those she works at with her boss, arranging flowers, but also those between her and her best friend Micah as well as Andrew, her little brother, and her mom. Even her father and also her feelings toward her hometown and how she wants to get out of there.

Kasie West never disappoints! You can always count on her books for a quick, cute, and engaging read filled with so much summer fun. Maybe This Time has the enemies to friends to lovers trope which I absolutely adore. Watching Andrew and Sophie’s enmity turn to friendship and then love gave me all the butterflies! Also loved the way the story unfolded via nine events throughout the year; it just felt so much more realistic than falling in love within the span of a month. All in all, I wouldn’t say this is my favorite Kasie West book (that honor goes to PS I Like You <3), but it’s still such an amazing read nonetheless! (:

Very good! There is the right amount of drama and romance. I love how all of the different events have their own flower that describes it just right. I love one of the quotes that actually is so sweet I almost fainted. Sophia is a flower designer who wants to be a fashion designer in New York and there is a new character in town.
Andrew
In the beginning of the story he takes a flower out of one of Sophia's carefully arrangements and she tells him not too. By the end of the story they recognize their feelings for each other but they have a fight about him leaving to New York again with his famous father. By the end of the story in the New Years Party for her town she sad and goes to be alone and unleash the famous balloons that fly through the sky after New Years.
Sophia's all alone on the platform when he comes after him and kisses her.
"You know how you told me not to steal any flowers?"
"Yeah..."
"I think I might have had a relapse..."

Cute but nothing special. I think the structure was original, at least nothing I have read before, but nothing really stood out to me. Also I don't think Kasie West really knows how art schools work but that fine lol

I honestly wasn't sure about reading this book, even though I love Kasie West, because I thought this was going to be your typical bad boy story.

Oh, why did I ever doubt Kasie West?

I really loved the dynamics between Sophie and Andrew ♥
Micah, Sophie's best friend, got on my nerve a lot of the time, but well is too much to ask for perfection.
