I will not lie. Like a lot of the other readers of this book, I was of course slightly disappointed with this book. My disappointment does not even come from the end. I actually liked it full well knowing Team Pip and Ravi will be forever. However the disappointment for me derives from the plot of this book in general. The reason this series is my favorite is the way Pip solves the mysteries throughout using her cleverness, braveness, and strongwilled personality to interview or interact with any one she pleases. She has no fears of people hating her. She has a job to do and she does that job very well.

In As Good As Dead, it is safe to assume that Pip is going to deteriorate mentally. She went through so many traumatic experiences. However, I still expected more from Pip in this book. I was very sad to see her not think straight. She did not think anything she did through in Part 2 like she would have in the first two books. For her to jump to the point where she needs to falsely accuse someone and use everyone around her to help was.... not smart. Not the Pip I have come to know and love. Some may disagree, but she could have easily claimed self defense. For her to immediately jump to conclusions that they would not believe her was ALL in her head. She chose to only listen to her own little voice in her head rather than Ravi who was always Her person. If she claimed self defense, it would have been fine. Yes, you could say she was "free." But if I was in that situation, and I knew my potential killer was actually a short distance away from knowing I escaped, I would also want to make sure he was dead. He had a car, she was lost in the forest on foot. He technically could have gone to find her and it would not have ended well. I still think claiming self defense was entirely better than pushing the blame on someone who should be punished for his OWN crimes.

The book was not about a mystery. It was never about Jason. It was never about a 3rd killer, or even her podcast. It was the finale of a 3 part series where the first 2 books were entirely foreshadowing her future. A Good Girls Guide to Murder. She really did make a great guide on how to get away with Murder. Justified Murder, that is. I still give it 5 stars. Why? Because Holly Jackson knows how to write a damn good series. This last book may not be what the other two books are, but I have always been kept on my toes. Whenever I read these books, I thought I could figure out each ending, but not once were they predictable, and that is what in my opinion makes a spectacular mystery novel.

Such a good book, the way that Pip didn’t get caught amazed me. Im happy that Max went to prison and im really happy for Pip!! I just need another book with Pip in it!!!!!!
