4.5!! ****

---somewhat spoilery

Such an awesome story! A perfect example of the possibility of writing a sequel without having to suffer from "middle-book-syndrome". The characters grow. The love interest develops. And the plot THICKENS! Even though Erin went wild killing a whole bunch of characters, it added a perfect amount of rawness.
Still consider this series to be a lot better than a whole lot of others that are not that great *coughs* divergent *coughs*
Awesome job on the action sequences!! Loved them. ......and my ship is sailing!!!

"I'm happy at the prospect, so mind- numblingly happy, that I can't understand how it is possible to be simultaneously sad."

So awesome and maybe better than the first book. Couldn't believe all of the twists and turns and cannot wait for the final book! Definitely an underrated series. Should be read by more people.

With FrOzen have no fear, because the sequel to Taken is everything you could crave and the stakes are even higher in this adventure filled second book. The tension is felt in this book between characters and the plot is as bold as it is chilling! I love Gray's character. Compared to many other YA novels, he's very different. He's complex and I enjoy reading from his first person narrative. And through out the book you'll learn more of the backstory and history. Very rich and satisfying world building. Loyalty is tested. Lives are on the line. Much is a blur and you'll love the sweet epic action sequences. I'm honestly dying for the "should be" / "will be" mind blowing conclusion to this crazy good trilogy. Your going to absolutely love FrOzen. It hits book stores April 14, 2014. Who will you put first, yourself or love? Gray's armed with the truth as he sets out on an icy journey in search of allies. But Gray must question his fellow friends and the girl he loves, and even his own enemies, because nothing, NOTHING is as it seems. "This book will blow you away. So be prepared. " - Jordan

A worthy sequel to Taken, although you could definitely see some of the twists coming...

I buzzed through TAKEN, the first book in this series, in a day so I thought I'd do the same with the second installment, FROZEN. Like its predecessor, this story moves quickly with lots of tension and action. The characters are sympathetic and likable, with a bit more development happening than in the first book. A few intriguing new characters are introduced and the possibility of them being either friend or foe adds more tension to the tale. The love triangle gets even more annoying in this second book, making Gray seem incredibly fickle. Just decide already, man! Ugh. All told, though, I found FROZEN to be engrossing and entertaining. I have the third book in the trilogy on hold at the library, so I'll probably read it tomorrow. Ha ha.

If I could, I'd give this book 3 1/2 stars; since I can't, I'm rounding up.

It's been over a year since I read Taken, but something told me it was time to read Frozen. In my typical fashion, I completely disregarded the idea of skimming book one to catch up on a few things. That was my mistake. However, it's okay, because most things I forgot were explained quickly anyway.
Frozen revolves around Gray Weathersby and his team of Rebels on their quest to find survivors of Group A. Seems like a real simple quest. Trek through the snow and ice for days to find people that may or may not be alive while everyone is looking for you in order to find a group of people that may or may not be alive and may or may not actually want your help! Not surprisingly, things didn't go all that smoothly.
Honestly, my internal struggle mainly revolved around who I liked with Gray. Bree is butch and violent, she and Gray fight all the time (good? bad? it's a toss up). I don't have a fully functioning opinion on Bree. The cold side of people is usually the best side when it comes to things like this, but I just found her entirely unlikable when she tried to face things on her own. Emma is the polar opposite, yet I still don't like her. Her sweet, kind exterior makes her appear helpless and weak, the last thing a survival group needs. Now, if Emma and Bree were the same person, that might work, but they're not. Gray strings both of them along and no one can convince me otherwise.
Some parts were slow, but when things picked up, they picked up fast and stayed that way. So as to not give anything away, I'll give my favourite parts a one word ode. Blaine. Boat. Group A. I'll let the reader sort out what part of the story each belongs to. All in all, though that ending was not something I was expecting and I give props for that. The entire time I was reading I was 100% sure this was a duology until I got to the last page and things were unresolved, then I remembered that Forged is the next book and now I have to buy it in order to see what happens. Looking forward to it!
