Enjoyable, but less like a book and more like a short story.

Short and bitter-sweet, it is time for me to say goodbye to one of my favorite families, the Mackenzies.
Btw, Nick stole the show at the end - I was not pleased, then again, I'm not a big fan of children for a reason.

Mackenzie’s Magic was probably the least favorite of mine of the Mackenzie stories, but that really isn’t saying much because I loved this story as well. Maris Mackenzie is the only daughter in a pack of rowdy, rough and tough boys. So it’s really no surprise that she took a job as a horse trainer, a job that can cause a few bruises. But when she wakes up in a hotel room next to a man she can’t remember, Maris needs to piece together not just the night before but why she’s under suspicion for killing a horse. This story had some great build up and reveal of the mystery, even I could not guess where the plot was going. And it didn’t hurt that Alex MacNeil was one sexy FBI agent.

No entiendo porqué Maris tiene un libro tan cortito, es la única mujer después de 5 varones, ella merece más que esto

This book was mostly pointless. It's very short and has almost no suspense whatsoever. Instant attraction worthy of a PNR "fated-mate" moment is the order of the day. The heart-warming (tongue-in-cheek here) moments (long, drawn-out moments) with the larger MacKenzie clan take over the last two chapters of the book and have no real purpose but to showcase Zane and Barrie's daughter Nick.

It's short and rushed, but still a good story. At this point I've got too much vested in the Mackenzie family to not read it.

My least favorite in the series, but I do still like it. Full review soon.

This is the least satisfying of all Howard's Mackenzie books. Because of the length, both Maris and Mac were shortchanged. Though Howard did a credible job with the limited word count she had, the story would have been much improved if it were 50pages longer.
All-in-all not a bad novella, it was just too short to have the same emotional impact as the other books in the series.
