Hero by Lauren Rowe!
This was the first book by Lauren that I read and it was definitely an emotional one. It follows Colby who was severely injured in a tragic house fire and his physical therapist Lydia.
Colby Morgan was absolute SWOON! He’s a firefighter who meets Lydia while he’s in the ICU fighting for his life after a tragic house while on shift. The first time he met Lydia he knew she was the one for him and he wasn’t willing to give her up.
When Lydia met Colby she was grieving the loss of her husband and the love of her life, Darren was her first everything love, kiss and was supposed to be her forever after. Even though she was mourning she couldn’t deny the pull she had towards Colby and the need to be near him.
I absolutely LOVED Colby! He was the sweetest most caring man towards Lydia and her kids. He forward just as much effort with her kids as he did with her. He had an amazing family who bonded with her kids quickly, Colby and his brothers even helped Lydia’s son with a bully at his school. The relationships he formed with each of her kids was unique and special to each specific one and he never left them out when he wanted to spend time with Lydia.
This story will definitely give you all the feelings, it’s emotional, realistic and awe-inspiring. Colby never rushed anything with Lydia and was always patient because he understood she needed to grieve and move past Darren to be able to have a future with Colby. Both had to work through their feelings and emotions, but it was beautiful to see because their ending and their story was amazing.
One of the sweetest parts was when Colby reassured the kids he wasn’t trying to replace Darren -- “ he’ll just hold the fort down on earth while their other dad is waiting to see them in heaven.”

"You're the silver lining to the worst storm cloud of my life, Lydia. A beautiful angel."
I laughed, I cried, I swooned. This is a different kind of torture.
Poor Lydia has been through so much but in the end she found the perfect family. *sniff, sniff*.
I want a firefighter too. Someone get me one *sobbing* Until then, who's up for a sleepover on the highway?

I read a review when I started this book where someone was pissed that the MMC complimented her nipples after the first kiss. And to this reader it was "major ick". If the book read just like that, and you don't take the entire conversation into account, then I might agree. However, it was fully pulled out of actual context and the reviewer acted like that was all that happened - and then she stopped reading the book altogether. What a disservice to this author, and to the novel. It also potentially swayed other readers who did not even start the book - with a flawed and inaccurate review.
The character development, the relationships between the siblings, the love that jumps off the pages, and the great new bonds that form over the course of the pages... All weaved together in the best way. I LOVED the way Colby loves the people in his life. I loved that he grew and learned about himself and the family he claims. Please give this book a chance. It was very worth the time and read.

Lydia is a widowed mother of 3 and Colby was injured while on duty as a fireman. Lydia’s past experience has gravitated her towards Colby but her boss also sees it and arranged for her to be Colby’s physical therapist. For Colby it was love at first sight. But they had a lot to battle against due to the nature of their relationship. But Colby is not one to give up. Colby made me fall completely in love with him. He is sweet and funny, loyal, dedicated to saving people, great with Lydia’s kids. I was impressed with how strong Lydia was despite her fears of losing another person she loves in the line of duty. All of the Morgan family made this book so funny and heartwarming and I can’t wait to read about the rest.
The audio for this was amazing. Such an easy listen and made me want to keep listening!

I don’t know where to start. The nicknames-bad, the guys talking about sex-BAD, the couple talking about sex-bad. It was very immature writing and the MCs in their thirties. About 70% you already know what’s happening in the next book because it takes about that MCs.
Great read!
This book could definitely be a great rom-com movie! I loved the entire Morgan family and their banter. This book had me laughing, tearing up, and swooning.
