When I started reading this book, I was MADLY in love with the top Spanish tennis player, Rafael Nadal. I was browsing a bookstore in the mall and found this book and the guy on the cover looked so much like him. Mind you, I was in high school when I saw this book, so I waited to read it lol. I eventually bought it and LOVED it. Rafael is really sexy and exotic, although I don't like how he made the bond between himself and Colby while she was sleeping, but I love Colby's counter to him because she is fiery and strong, but is also passionate about her family. But anyway, I ship these two, this is a different vampire story than I was expecting, and I really like it a lot!

I read this a long time ago and enjoyed it but gave it a reread a few months ago. And just WOW didn’t realize how terrible this book was. I’ve read others in this series and still love them to this day but this one OOF.

Him forcing her to have sex with him and her insta falling in love with him at the end…YIKES.

At first i wanted to throw this book repeatedly against a wall for just how dominating Feehan made this man, but for a change this one actually felt guilty for his pigheadedness so i was slightly okay with him at the end.
I still want her to for once write more than just one man who isn't a total control freak. /end rant

These books always feel much longer than they need to be. I like the story. It was a little bit different than the usual Carpathians book.

Fucked up consent, shitty people. Magical woman with a magical pst. Dead stepdad, dead mom, unknown dad. Crappy family trying to make amends.
