I was hoping for a good, western historical romance featuring a female protagonist that had to fight the odds, but instead got an unsettling account on the misfortunes of a girl who’s family was taken away from her and was taken in by a female community acting as males.

I really enjoyed this one but felt like it was a little half-baked. What an interesting alternate timeline world the author has created I only wish I had more time to get to know and understand the characters. I kept thinking what a great series (or movie) this would make!
