I haven't been reading Cassandra Clare's book in order but with this, I have now read the first book of each of her series; TMI, TDA, & TID. This one has been the only one I've remotely liked besides City of Bones but even then, that one was meh. Only thing I hate about Clare's writing is that she drags out the big battles at the end of her book way too long. As in she sets them up to be this grand overture yet they always seem like they could end in less than 5 minutes flat.

Will say I know that
Tessa ends up with Will, writing makes that obvious enough
but I prefer her relationship w/ Jem. Really just one of those love triangles the author could've just made a polyamorous relationship if they weren't a coward. Then again with how Will acts, it'd probably be unhealthy.

i would have given it a 4.5 (i felt like something was missing) anyways...slowly recovering from a reading slump this book definitely helped, the excitement and tension with each chapter made me want to continually read it in one sitting but i just refused as i wanted to extend the story aha. probably my fav fantasy book and i just love the characters especially jem <3 the twist near to the end was something i didn’t expect which made me scream lmao. the slow burn romance between tessa and will makes me question if they should be together or not but this book was just an incredible read and made me fall in love with the shadowhunter world all over again as i became distant from because of a book within the same world that i hated... i can’t wait to continue this series!

Set in Victorian London, Tessa Gray has travelled from New York to search for her missing brother.
On her arrival, she is kidnapped by the Dark Sisters and learns she has a very special power that the Magister wants to use her for.

I enjoyed the cast of characters in this book but found the pace very slow. I ended I up taking months to read it. Overall, it was nice to be back in the
Shadowhunter world. The ending picked my intrigue enough to continue with the trilogy.

I just love the book/series so much. I love all of the characters especially Henry he just makes me laugh. I really love Tessa. I also just love the plot with the clockwork and all the twists. I also do love this love triangle like ugh it’s so good.
