❌ Miscommunication Trope
❌ Self Absorbed MMC
❌ Uncommunicative FMC
Look, I can understand a miscommunication trope… once. Heck, even maybe twice. But these two MC’s do not know how to communicate. They may have raw chemistry but that’s about it.
This is a not-so-fun Christmas read that had me stressed the entire time!

The best part of the book was the fact that one of the main characters shared my birthday.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. There was fake dating and enemies to lovers, which I love. However, there was also miscommunication and the main couple acted pretty immature a lot of the times (especially the male lead who ran away every chapter). I understand they were both dealing with things, the miscommunication is a trope I rarely enjoy.

This book was a cutsey little fun predicable hallmarky Christmas read. In the middle there i was kinda like oh! we are going off script!! Then right back to cheesy town USA for the ending. BUT that was what I signed up for so it got the job done

I’m sad to join the majority here in giving this a bad review, but I’m so happy it’s over, it took me over two weeks to get through this and I had to read it both on my phone and in print. This was just not good. The story had so much potential, if it has stayed and developed with the music competition for way longer and then went through the year rather than these huge jumps where very little happens it could’ve been a legit story. The writing was OK but very corny-think Hallmark Christmas movie for every aspect of this book. Sadie and Max did have chemistry at the beginning, that was only felt by me during the singing. Other than that it was petty, childish arguing, turning a blind eye which was so easily dismissed but shouldn’t be just to move the story along. That’s pretty much the story, they’re so hot and cold literally about nothing for most of the story. Even the side issues just lacked substance especially Sadie not telling Max her familial problems. The story is very sweet, it just doesn’t work in any way.

Christmas books are rated on a much different scale than the rest of the books I review. They can get away with over the top cheesy characters because that's what I've come to expect (and adore) from them.
However, I cannot get behind this dude. Big no. How can I root for a couple, when he can't get his life together enough to follow through with his contractual obligations and commitment...Even if it means screwing over the person he's supposedly in love with.
With that said, I LOVED the John Denver references. John Denver Rocky Mountain Christmas is without a doubt the BEST Christmas album ever.

DNF. You don't need anything else that others haven't already said...it was kind of like when my kids tell me a story and skip all sorts of stuff in the middle.."and then the boy got mad and instead of saying one sentence to explain it he ran away again." I'm over the uh unsaid things miscommunication trope.
