A wonderful book. It wraps up a little too quickly, but the book on the whole is achingly beautiful.

Stefano Benni is very underrated internationally, while he is very famous in Italy.
This, as most of his stories, is sarcastic and political. A satire inside of a coming of age book.
Benni makes up words, constructs really interesting and different characters and moves from poetry to blunt speech from one word to the next.
Most of the funny quotes aren't reported here in English.
To give you a try:
"I'm good at school and when I'm old I wanna be a poet. My specialty are bad poems.
If you think well, there are many poets who are so so, but a really bad poem is rare. Hear this one:
my name is Margherita, and as you may have guessed
I weight less in my panties than fully dressed"
Or
"Fedele had his gun in his hand and a backpack full of bombs or snacks".
The ending of the book was a bit... different from what I would have liked. But this makes me think a lot about the books meaning and what the author really wanted to say. I need to read the last 3 chapters again.
I loved this book and I recommend it to everyone who likes sarcasm and satire. I love the character of the chubby, smart, vulnerable almost 15 years old who is Margherita.

«Ascoltavo la mia prof preferita, quella di lettere. Stava spiegando che non si dice ma però, e neanche ma d'altra parte. Sono pleonasmi, allungano il discorso, e continuava a parlare, parlare e io pensavo che aveva ragione, ma però d'altra parte contemporaneamente d'altronde, per spiegarci di non farla lunga la stava facendo lunghissima, ma però non se ne accorgeva.
E ci sono periodi molto maperò nella vita. Il fiume degli eventi ristagna e non si sa quale direzione prenderà, e andiamo alla deriva in acque torbide. Poi l'acqua diventa limpida, il torrente scorre, e tutto torna trasparente.»

In realtà sto ancora cercando di metabolizzare.
Mi ha preso dalla prima pagina, è stato complicato far durare la lettura così tanto tempo.
Parte come una storia leggera, si trasforma in un mistero ed ha una fine esplosiva (che devo ancora far mia completamente, perché mi ha spiazzato, in senso positivo).
Amo Benni, amo come descrive, come in poche parole riesce a racchiudere interi concetti, come riesca a rendere leggeri dei temi pesanti e riesca ad affrontare argomenti vari con semplicità e allo stesso tempo dando immagini complete e chiare. Adoro i suoi neologismi e lo stile.
Al momento trovo stupenda la trama di questo libro.
Margherita è un personaggio stupendo, così come Eraclito e nonno Socrate.
Nulla, così a caldo (e con la stanchezza che mi porto dietro in questo momento) non riesco a produrre giudizi più concreti e articolati.
L'ho adorato ed avevo bisogno di leggere qualcosa di simile.

Ah, sospira, se ci fosse una cacciavite per togliere le idee sbagliate e un martello per fissare le buone intenzioni, una chiave inglese per stringere per sempre l'amore e una sega per tagliare col passato ! Ma questa attrezzeria non ce l'hanno data e,dopo aver tentennato e scricchiolato , prima o poi ci romperemo."
