I liked this book and I loved the ending. The dynamic between Eli and Victor was phenomenal and I love the alliterations of God by Eli. They made him such an interesting character even tho I much prefer victor.

This is a superhero comic in the form of a novel and realising that was key in my enjoyment.
As is the case when I read a comic, I didn't reach my usual level of connection with the characters. We weren't given the chance to dwell on scenes or emotional beats, which was a shame given what was built between Victor and Eli. Their final confrontation passed in the blink of an eye and left me wanting more.
Nonetheless, I had a lot of fun with this book. It was an easy read and the overall experience was extremely positive. I love these dudes.
I cannot wait to read the next book, if only for Sydney and Victor. I want to see him navigate parenting with his lack of empathy. Sydney is useful to Victor, making her easier to care for in his eyes. At some point, would he want the ability to meet her needs so she'd grow up at least somewhat stable? I need a lil gap between what he wants to give and what he's capable of giving, gimme it.
Mitch was an extremely well adjusted person in comparison to Victor, and he seemed very in touch with his emotions throughout the book. He's established a very sweet connection with Sydney and their interactions made me smile. He can cover the bases Victor can't. What I mean to say is, I need to watch these two co-parent this child. Don't deprive me of this, please.
stuff I might wanna mention when recommending:
•religion used to justify inflicting harm
•murder (not graphic)
•torture (not graphic)
•sexual assault
•general consent shenanigans (thanks Serena)
