3.5 stars rounded down to 3. I liked The Good Lie much more, but this was still interesting and addicting!

Completely different from what I usually read, but I enjoyed it. A little predictable at times. Nothing much happens for the first 150 pages, yet I couldn't stop reading. It reads like a stream of consciousness which I thought was fun.

Where to even begin. This book gave me major The real Housewives meets murder. These two women surrounded by wealth, one drowning in it and the other dreaming of it.

Cat this debutant wife and the husband everyone drools over. Neena with the desperate desire for the fortune and ~status~ of a woman who has it all. Both husbands are so basic I wish there was more to them but nothing worth noting. William gave such basic man that strokes his ego through his pants. Matt just the loyal puppy dog husband that will let his wife trample him cause he married out of his league.

THE ENDING?! I’m not sure if I was just so caught up in Neena and her obsession with William, that I really didn’t see it coming. The infidelity, the need to have this superior status. I loved how all the characters were flawed and clearly throughout the book none of them ended up being the justified good character.

They ALL got what they deserved.

I hadn't read A.R. Torre in a while, so I'd forgotten how she tells the story of wicked, deceitful characters. This book has no shortage of them.

Cat is the perfect "Stepford wife" type. But she also has secrets. Her husband, William, is a loving millionaire who gives her anything. Then along comes Neena. The less-than-perfect woman buys the foreclosed house next to their mansion. And we get a plethora of conniving, wicked women and some doormat men.

I found it hard to root for anyone in the story except for poor Matt.

A good psychological thriller, and an author I will continue to read.

3.75 rounded up.
