I really wanted to love this story but idk. A little too dark for me. I mean it was satisfying to finish but the build at the end draaaaaaagged. Not a bad book.. just not my favorite.

this was a surprisingly intriguing story! Victor and Eli were friends and studying up on EO's, Extra Ordinarys. they have a near death experience and come back with abilities. you would think they would become superheroes, except when you come back from death, you lose a part of yourself, whether its fear or emotions, no one ever comes back as an EO whole.

"victor vale was not a fucking sidekick.

from the moment they came to with their powers, I was questioning who was the villain and who was the hero, and I still don't know. they're both teetering on the line of good and bad. Eli believes what he is doing is God's work, so he believes he is morally good despite the numbers stacking up, and Victor is trying to stop Eli, but how far he will go to do just that might not be considered good either.

“plenty of humans were monstrous, and plenty of monsters knew how to play at being human"

As a former anime and manga kid: do you know Death Note? Did you love the rivalry and the two protagonists hunting each other while always being so close? Then you'll love this book.

Never read a book so fast in my life. I just couldn't put it away. The short chapters helped with that a lot as well. It was just such a thrilling read, not one page was boring or felt unnecessary.
LOVE LOVE LOVE and I'll definitely check out more of her books after this one!
