I have mixed feelings about this book. I like The concept, the way the creepiness of the hotel and all was described, and the ending. But there's some parts that I think were dragged on(the main character took too long to figure out the truth IMO) and there's the insta love( ̄▽ ̄)

if someone held a gun to my head and asked me to tell them what the book was about to live.... lets just say i wouldn't make it home- like this book has been completely deleted from my memory. i have no recollection of what actually happened in the book.

I picked this up on a whim after seeing the author on a panel at a local convention where she told the story of her inspiration when writing it. Overall I really did enjoy it. I’ve seen some of the negative reviews and I have to disagree with them. The mystery was engaging and it kept me going trying to uncover the secrets of the Ruby

I listened to the audiobook, and genuinely liked the narrator. I think she fit Audrey so well, and I didn’t get annoyed with her voice, which tends to happen a lot when I listen to audiobooks.

The plot of this story was enjoyable. It had a creepy element to it from the beginning, especially when Audrey kept seeing questionable things that no one else seemed to be privy to. I knew something was up with the hotel from the beginning, but the reveal was pretty predictable. I would have liked more horror, and suspense.

I enjoyed the writing style. It wasn’t too juvenile, but also, wasn’t riddled with too much description and not enough action. I felt like things flowed well throughout the book.

I enjoyed the characters, too. Audrey didn’t just wow me, but she didn’t annoy me. I didn’t mind hearing the story from her point of view. And she had a major badass moment at the end, which was awesome!

Overall, this was a solid four-star read that I enjoyed!

DNF at 50 pages in. Just getting through those was a chore I had to force upon myself so... Not going to keep pushing it.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I liked the ending but it was really slow and it took a lot of effort for me to get through the middle of it. I also thought the main character was a bit slow figuring out that something was wrong with the hotel. Overall I liked the premise I found it to be a bit boring.

I enjoyed this book as much as I wanted or needed to. It was a good listen while working on other things. I may have missed some of the woo factor by listening to it as an audio book instead of reading it out of a physical book. The premise was both interesting and yet familiar. It doesn't seem entirely original, but it was still enjoyable. Things took a turn toward the last quarter of the book that surprised me, but it also got more interesting. Once they revealed Elias's past and who he really was, it felt kind of odd to have a love story that he was a part of. Feel free to disagree, but it gave me weird vibes.
