Interesting modern take on the traditional greek gods. Makes it slightly easier to understand whos connected to each other.

I love greek mythology, I love Hades and Persephone and I love graphic novels so I already knew before starting to read this that I would like it.
What I did not know though was that this graphic novel is portraying a lot of heavy topics and that caught me of guard. Especially the rape scene was a lot. But just generally I would not recommend this to everyone for that reason. I do think it was all handled really well and respectfully.
Please do look at the trigger warnings though! Since it is visually portrayed I think it can be especially triggering.

I really enjoyed reading this book though. The drawing style is gorgeous and I felt really immersed in the story. There is great attention to detail and that helps with the main problem I have with graphic novels (them feeling too short and the characters not being flashed out enough).

I am definitely reading the second book as well and I'm really excited for it too. The only reason this isn't a 5 star read for me is that it made me feel bad because of all the darker themes. It is really close though and I might give it 5 stars after a reread in the future.

Ugh it was over much too quickly but I truly love this work and Rachel Smythe's art. There are some difficult parts to the story but within them I think there are things people can relate to, even if they're negative. I love what Rachel has done with the myths and honestly, when I catch up with book too, I may just re-download the app and read it all over again ❤️ no such thing as too much Lore.

The only thing I well say is the editing made this a little rough. I almost want to say they could've included more panels to cram more of the story in one book cus for those who've never read it, it's like not much has really happened.

Thanks to Del Rey Books for the free copy of this book.

 - LORE OLYMPUS, a retelling of the myth of Hades and Persephone set in a modern world, is by turns hilarious and dark, told with style and full of clever takes on well-known characters.
- My one small gripe with it is that I found some of the panels to be quite dark. Literally, I mean it was sometimes hard for me to see what was happening, though the story takes some dark turns as well. Aside from that, the art style is generally quite stunning.
