This books deals with serious issues, that need to be addressed more. There are very dark themes, be warned some of theme deals with generational trauma, child abuse and sexual assault. I loved watching the art grow as the story did

This was solidly mid for me, which is a shame.
I think the main reason for this was due to the main character, Persephone. She was just such a manic pixie dream girl I literally could not focus on anything else. The way the characters were drawn was also a little bit off-putting.

Otherwise, I liked all the characters, though they did seem shallow (though that might be the point). However, I sometimes had trouble telling a few of the characters apart due to similar faces and similar coloring. If I see the next one in my library, I might pick it up since it's super popular, but I wouldn't go out of my way to read it.

The art is beautiful. I like the palette and art style. I don't like how over-exaggerated the proportions of the female characters are and interesting how the gods all walk on the ball of their feet. Also, Demeter, Persephone’s mom, is Hera's sister, not friend.

I like that the elements of Greek mythology (the amount of sexual content and sexual assault and sly behaviour) is illustrated and addressed here rather than brushed off.

I absolutely loved the first volume of Lore Olympus. Would've read it all in one sitting if I didn't have other things to do. But such is life, etc.

The art style is gorgeous, the colours are beautiful, the dialogue is funny. And the plot is light, dark, and heartbreaking. So it's got everything I love in a sequential art, really.
Well, except for the gays. Where are the gays, Rachel Smythe? This is Greek mythology, we're talking about.

Speaking of Greek mythology, for someone who was (sort of) writing a book based on it and generally obsessed with Greek myths and deities from a young age I really remember umm not much at all. So this was fun, but I feel like I need to brush up on the subject matter to better appreciate the intricacies. Alas, I shall not do it. In the words of Michael Gary Scott, "Wish I could, but I can't. Well can, but I won't. Should, maybe, but shorn't". Priorities and all that.

I definitely wasn't expecting things to get so heavy this early on, and it absolutely wrecked me. But I think it was well handled, and a very accurate representation of such a situation and the aftermath.

Highly recommend if you like the Greek pantheon, beautiful art, and serialised storytelling.
