Wow! I loved this book and it really pulled on the heart strings.
A story of grief, love, loss and new beginnings.

I decided to pick this book to lighten things up a little with all the heavy thrillers I’ve been reading lately. I’ve never read anything by Dawn French and noticed it had mixed reviews. It was a quick easy read but definitely not a ‘light book’, with story lines around trauma, stillbirth & abduction. Overall it’s a really sad book about mother’s & daughters & experiencing the worst pain possible, losing a child.
This was my pick for bookshelf raidera March theme of booksta made me do it and this was definitely worth the hype!

Because Of You takes you on a roller coaster of emotions, from sheer happiness to utter heartbreak and everything in between. This is done in such a way that you feel like you are right there in the book with the characters following them along on their journey
·
This is not only a tale of heartbreak and mother-love, but also resilience, determination and family that French has written in such a way that is easy to read while still being believable, which for me is a big part of what hooks me into a book like this
·
I've said it before but I absolutely love a book told from multiple points of view, and Because Of You is another triumph here. With each different perspective you empathise with that character and get to see the timeline of events unfold from their point of view
·
A great, easy read that will tug at the heartstrings but one I definitely recommend 4⃣⭐
·
I will say there are some trigger warnings to be aware of, the big one being stillbirth ❗

Audiobook narrated by the author. A bit too syrupy and predictable for me but okay escapist listen.

yes, it's sad. but it's also crazy. and everything seemed too easy. also, i wish mothers who loved their children were real.
The first half of the book essentially feels like setup, detailing the premise as per the blurb. Some of the dialogue is funny - especially Anna's. The ending is saccharine and overly convenient. The novelty of hearing the wonderful Dawn French in your ear as you read doesn't quite make this book with picking up.
