In a story that looks to be focused on a group of characters, the fact that I’m really not getting a strong feel for any of them is a bad sign. I’m being repeatedly told that one character is being self absorbed, and to some extent this is being shown, but it seems to wooden, so passing by numbers, that I’m failing to engage at all.

Haven’t read any of Dawn French’s fiction before, and this was really disappointing. The writing is amateur and cringeworthy, the characters incredibly two-dimensional and the pacing is rather slow. I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened though. The ending was probably the best part of the book.
