Marley & Me

John Grogan

4.02 AVERAGE

John Grogan knows how to tell a story. He was so honest with his story and he's definitely had quite some adventures with Marley. Some parts I felt were self-indulgent, but everything he shared was necessary and added value to the story. Grogan brought out Marley's personality so well I felt like I was watching the story unfold instead of reading about it.

"In the lonely blackness, I could almost taste the finiteness of life and thus its preciousness. We take it for granted but it is fragile, precarious, uncertain, able to cease at any instant without notice. I was reminded of what should be obvious but too often is not, that each day, each hour and minute, is worth cherishing." - John Grogran, Marley & Me

Book: from Susanna's giveaway pile.

This was a feel good book, even though it had a sad ending. Basically, I cried a little but I laughed a lot. I feel like it was easy to relate to the story because everyone knows someone who has a quirky pet in his life.

Wonderful story. Not a fan of the writing style though

Despite the fact that almost every animal book ends sadly, I love them. I particularly enjoyed this one because Marley sounds a lot like the Lab my family had from puppyhood until she died just months short of her 17th birthday.

I adored, loved, cherished this book! I recommended it to all the dog-lovers in my life. I'm thrilled that it has also become a children's book in the form of Bad Dog, Marley!

I cried so much. Good dog.

John Grogan recounts his experiences with Marley, an ill-behave yellow lab with a heart of loyalty. From the start of his marriage, to the glory years of his family, John learns to forgive Marley the unforgivable and live for love.

This dog has a personality all its own! Everytime I see an exuberant puppy it reminds me of Marle, a dog I have never even met but I feel like I did through this book. It sends the message that everyone has a place in this world and people who love them.

One of my favorite books of ALL time! This is an endearing story about a couple finding a new pup named Marley and they triumphs and turbulance that come in the journey of a beloved pet. I cried hard when this book was over. The movie is excellent as well!
