Marley & Me

I'm a sucker for dog books, especially about labradors, but this one even non-dog lovers I think would enjoy. It just describes learning how to love the simpler things in life and the joy that having unconditional love brings...

Okay, I read dog book. That said this book made me laugh, so hard I cried and then, of course, I cried at the end, as one must with all dog books if one loves dogs. I loved the book and the movie as well. I loved their loyalty, empathy, exuberance, and unconditional love. Like Marley these qualities made me overlook their inability to really follow the rules and their selective hearing whenever I gave them commands!

I have never lived with/owned a dog until living with my boyfriend's dog this year, and I found this book to be one of the best that I've read. I have a hard time understanding how anyone could say that it was boring or Cliche... I finished this book in one sitting all-the-while laughing and sobbing along with the author.

A lot of people seem to think that the owners were bad dog owners. Other than thinking Marley should have been put to sleep maybe a LITTLE sooner, like maybe before their vacation to Disney AT LEAST, (the failing hips were SO hard to read about), I feel like they did a better job taking care of Marley's quirks than most owners would ever do. Not only did they keep him and not take the easy way out, they exercised him constantly, kept his weight at a healthy level, dished out the money necessary to help him throughout his life, trained him a lot, and wow, they always seemed to be at the vet, but they loved him deeply.

I adored this little dog and I adore this author for sharing his story. When I finished the book I saw "wow" and stared at the cover...and then cleaned up my tears so my boyfriend wouldn't make fun of me! Ha.

I could talk about this book forever. Just Wow.

I did not expect Donald Trump to make an appearance in this book.
I was taken aback when he was referred to as a realtor. Aaah. Those were the days.

after Eriel's comments about those of us who love silly dogs like Marley, I had to read it! :) A nice romp that doesn't require anything of you (except a box of kleenex).

All I can say is I hugged my two doggies for hours after reading this book. . . can't bear to go see the movie. I laughed and cried. . . a memorable read.

LOVED IT... it made me laugh. It made me cry. It also made me love my little Pugsley that much more!

If you like dogs, you'll love this book. I laughed, I cried, it was the feel good book of the year. Just kidding, but seriously, I really enjoyed the authors writing style. He has a great sense of humor, and tells stories well. He also reflects on things many times during the book, and these are sensitive and insightful.

For any dog lover -- or just anyone with a streak of sentimentality -- this book will make you laugh out loud and cry. It sure did for me. It's an easy read but it will touch your heart. I'm also particularly biased because it's written by a journalist and I was touched by the sprinkling of newsroom antics and thoughts only a journalist would truly understand.
