This was a cute book, and I can easily see not only why it was so popular, but why it was made into a movie. The way John Grogan writes just invites you to imagine every incident, and play it back in your mind. I gave it only two stars because I just didn't enjoy it that much myself. I love dogs, and up until a few months ago, was a dog owner myself, and I have seen first-hand many of the behaviors that Marley exhibited. I can see the amusing aspects of some of the stories, but to a certain extent, I just don't find it that enjoyable to read about. It's probably in the realm of "we can laugh about that now", and I am still unable to laugh about the issues that my dog had that caused us to give him up. So I suppose it's personal.

I hate that throughout the whole book he described Marley as a “bad dog” or “the world’s worst dog”. MY GUY, you are the problem… not your dog.
I love, love, loved this book. I laughed out loud, I cried like a baby. It's hard knowing that our babies don't have the same lifespan we do, but we have to love them with all our hearts while we are blessed with their presence.
Even though I enjoyed this book, it will be a one time only thing!
This is the first memoir I've read and actually enjoyed. It was funny, moving and so human (and canine!) It is a story about a dog, but also about family, love, loyalty and friendship. It was really emotional, made me laugh and cry. Beautifully written and wonderfully entertaining. I think you'd enjoy this even if you didn't like dogs...

O livro é muito fofo, e faz-me lembrar das histórias que eu tinha com meus cachorros que também já se foram. No início não tinha gostado muito pelo fato do autor não parar de falar sobre a raça do animal, principalmente porque ele COMPROU o cão e eu acho isso super errado. Mas conforme o livro foi passando, fui me apaixonando cada vez mais pela história e pelo cachorro.
Enfim, vale a pena ler.
