Marley & Me

Originally I was planning on giving this book three stars, as it was so slow, but I honestly did not have the heart to do it. The ending was so heartbreaking, and I will never forget this story. Especially this part. This broke my heart.

"A dog has no use for fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. Status symbols mean nothing to him. A waterlogged stick will do just fine. A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class, but by who they are inside. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart, and he will give you his."- John Grogan

I love it so so much, I connect with the reading immediately, also felt so related

Simultaneously heartbreaking, hysterical and never unentertaining, John Grogan writes a real life tale so beautiful, warm and adorable that the feels creep up on you until the infamous ending which leaves tears streaming down your face and a hole in your heart; as crazy as it may sound, over 300 pages of mischief, magic and Marley, you can't help but fall in love with him. The emotion that the Grogans feel is palpable. God bless that Marley. As
SpoilerMarley dies, my cat bounded over and tried to get my attention; that made it feel real. It's annoying how these animals get under your skin in such a short time. As I write this, my cat's snoring. Awwww...

This book was so funny and captivating. All dog lovers will howl over Marley and his odd antics.

I read this shortly after getting my own first dog, and it truly captures a human-pet relationship, to the point that I was moved to tears on an airplane in front of coworkers!
