I read this back in 2004 and will never forget that while reading the last few chapters, when Marley was older, and I’m sobbing in my bed, my mother comes in with the vacuum completely oblivious to me. I looked at her like she was insane for ruining my moment and she looked at me right back like get a grip on yourself. I was 16 and this book ruined me but I still think of it and how much I loved reading it until the end.

Very cute story about a misbehaving, but very lovable dog. Haven't seen the movie yet, but probably will at some point.

Even knowing exactly what this book entails, the final chapters REALLY wallop you with the feeling of loss. Deep, guttural, and all too real.
Marley is at both an unremarkable dog in terms of his antics and an ethereal being for the joy and laughter he brought to his owners. A really beautiful story that left me sobbing and holding my dogs just a bit tighter after completion.

I have probably read this book a solid dozen times. If you don't loves animal, have never had a dog, or are not amused by everyday life than don't pick this book up.
This book really captures the 'first time pet owner' to an absolute Tee. It is heartfelt, hilarious, and sincere.
Truly, as a pet owner myself who has had my share of 'bad dogs' this really rang a bell and I will re read it again and again forever.
