DID NOT FINISH: 0%

I can’t do cheating it books. It’s too triggering and it breaks my heart. This one especially. It was already sad because of the fertility struggles but the cheating pushed me over the edge

Here I am at the end of my 2nd Hoover book back-to-back and despite it once again being a book full of tones of emotions and I think that I can say that I have a new outlook of life after finishing this one. I found this one completely riveted; The Book has strong characterisation that fuels the entire narrative. I have to say that I just loved the character and despite the times that I was screaming at them at times I just wanted the best for them both.

I read this over the course of two days, and I had to force myself to put it down. When I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about these characters and how their marriage was going to play out.

This takes a realistic look at infertility and how it can tear a marriage apart, which might be hard for some to read. However, the dark parts are nicely wrapped inside the Then sections of the novel exploring when the characters first meet, which helped to harshen the blow when it came to reading the most painfully moments. Overall, I found this to be heartbreaking, endearing, and full of sappy goodness!

The back and forth of the emotions in this book is what kept me reading. From flipping to the last and present and seeing everything fall into place. I just kept wanting to see what happened. It was written in such a way that kept me guessing. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen something else did. I would read this book again and tell others to read it too.

This book was not at all what I expected. I was reading it because it is listed as part of the Hopeless series, which is a bit silly. There is ultimately no reason for it to be considered as part of the series (aside from like a sentence about Six), and it can totally be read as a stand-alone.
So let's get into this book- it ripped my heart to shreds and then danced on the pieces. I did not at all think I would enjoy it, but it was such a powerful book. Quinn's struggle with Infertility and the effects it takes on, not only her, but her husband and their marriage is devastating. However, I think that Colleen does an exceptional job at capturing both the devastation and the hope that can be born when facing a Category 5 with someone you truly love. This was one of those books I feel like everyone should read at least once to better understand the struggles that so many face.

Spoiler:
You might be wondering, "why only 4 stars then?" and answering that is easy: it was the cheating. I guess you could say I'm looking past that very glaring flaw in Graham's character in order to find the perfect in this book because there was no excuse for that. 😅
