I really enjoyed this book about the journey from cell to human. Vestre broke down complex scientific concepts in an engaging way, and I was able to understand most of it (though did get a bit lost a handful of times, and wonder if a bit more basic background might have helped). The comparisons with other species were fascinating and entertaining. At the end, I felt quite amazed and humbled.

I also liked that this book is addressed to 'you', the reader, so is aimed at any human reader with an interest – not only or particularly at expectant parents.

This book gives a scientific yet easy to understand account of what happens from conception up until birth. Nothing super graphic so I feel it is appropriate for all ages. Younger people might need help pronouncing some of the more scientific terms.
