This was a really lovely read, I do think there could have been power in directly discussing some of the casual racism displayed towards Lily within the lesbian community. 
The ending was really sweet and hopeful. I felt it rang true for the rest of the book and the era, I think it also honored that Lily and Kath had dreams beyond teenage love.

I think this represents figuring out you're queer exceptionally well (and I can't imagine how much harder it would've been in the 60s) and it reminds me of Annie On My Mind in the way Lily interacts with her family and her community, as well as the similar message and feeling I got from AOMM

I also love the way her and Kath were weaving around each other trying to figure out if the other one is also queer ... ate every single bit of it up

guys when she was kicked out of her house and had to go stay with Lana I quite legitimately almost cried Lily didn't deserve that !! and then she came back and they tried to pretend like nothing ever happened ?? heart-punching

I need people to write a thousand more books like this ... the wlw community deserves it ok
