This book was quite entertaining. It had decent world building and I loved the letters sent between the characters. The romance was also fun and I thought the story got better as the book went on. However, I felt like the author had a tough time with the delivery of exposition with characters, instead of it being spread out evenly in the story, having multiple pages  of a singular monologue to explain everything which I found very bulky. I also think she had trouble finding the characters’ unique voices at times. At certain points in the book I had trouble distinguishing who was saying what, especially quick dialogue between Roman and Iris. Though overall, it’s a solid book.

Not a 4, but not a 3.5. Spoiler alert!!!! Do not read the next sentence if you do not want a spoiler. The author did an excellent job setting up the relationship between Iris and Roman
but then rushed a quickie marriage. I understand the war aspect but it was too fast. They went from playful and cute banter to “my soul will not survive without you” so dang fast.
The premise of the novel is super interesting and the gods the author made up are really fascinating. There’s a bit of mystery in this novel that is still not solved at the end. I’m suspending judgement on which god is actually the ‘bad’ guy. I’m leaning towards Dacre but this wouldn’t be the first time an author did a bait and switch where everything they wrote pushes the read to jump to a false conclusion.

Dear Roman C. Kitt, you are the sun, the moon, the earth, and the stars, and I thank Rebecca Ross for making you!

This book was beautiful. It grabbed my heart with the very first line and never let it go. These characters and this setting are so rich and just feel like a warm embrace. And Roman, well, Roman was perfect.

I can’t wait to devour Ruthless Vows and see where this journey ends!

This book was great! I love the writing was easy to digest and beautiful at times, the romance was just *chefs kiss* I do wish more back story on Marisol and Keegan. This book was balanced and definitely a must read for anyone who is interested 😀

I really did not enjoy this book at all and I don’t really get the hype. The plot  and the time line was kind of confusing. I didn’t really understand what was going on with the god’s, the war, her brother, and the arranged marriage that Kitt’s parents were planning. The only thing i remotely cared about with the banter between Iris and Roman, and even then most of it was quite cringey. And the fact that they had a magical connection with typewriters was kind of stupid. This book really wasn’t for me and i just want to know what happened to the lesbians, like are they okay or what?
