Such odd little stories but I fw them heavy. Love a good read on fate and karma and lives intertwining.

this book is a collection of short stories that tell about people; their struggles, relationships, and moments of self discovery.

divided into six stories, each with its own unique storyline. even though the language used in this book is quite simple, yoshimoto expressed deep emotions and explores profound meanings, making readers think about the complexities of life. the stories are relatable and depict both the happiness and sadness of everyday life, leaving a lasting impact on readers even after they have finished the book.

if there's one more thing to note, it could be that some stories have a little bit of ambiguity element. some readers might prefer clearer ending, but it doesn't really affect the overall enjoyment of the book.

I gained a lot of perspective from this. English translation has multiple typos.

some things you just like...with Banana Yohsimoto, I just feel comfortable in the odd mood she sets and in her words.

i know objectively she's not for everyone and i honestly can't put my finger on why i enjoy her so much but i do.

oh wow! This book really resonated with me. The stories pack a punch and unfold deeply into what shapes a human. These are stories of understanding yourself on a deeper level, humans on a deeper level, passions, what you're drawn to why. It felt like this was written just for me. I check it out from the library, but am buying a copy so I can highlight bits and write in notes for future reads.
