oh I looooove this book!!
Mrs. Dalloway was beautifully written by Virginia Woolf. She chose and constructed lovely and beautiful words until they became compelling poetic narrative. At first I was a little bit confused with the shifting POV but then I got the pattern. I love this book, really love it that I had to read it aloud and slowly so I can absorb those beautiful words to my bone. I will definitely reread this book!

What a lark!!!

Someone please take the semicolons away from her.
I really wanted to get into reading more classics but I just hate books with tons of internal monologue, abstruse never-ending sentences, and an abundance of indirect speech. I need dialogue and at least a little bit of action or suspense, pleaseee. This book doesn't have that. It's feels like a 250 page long character study. I read the whole thing but somehow didn't register 80% of it. Definitely would have DNFed if it hadn't been part of a reading challenge I'm doing.

This book earned itself a spot on the top shelf. What a great read! Woolf was a leader in the modernist movement, and it reflects in her writing. She goes deep into the minds of her characters, and with that, turns a somewhat bland story into a masterpiece about society, class, and love in the early 20th century.

If you are interested in reading this, I highly recommend reading a physical copy, as you will not have the same experience with an audiobook.
