“Heart Recaptured” just broke my heart and built me up again. I honestly didn’t think it could get much darker than the previous book, but man this one went to some horrifically dark places. Lilah and Ky both were a bit gratting to me, but I appreciated how fully fleshed out their characters were. And their relationship in the face of Lilah’s immense trauma (and brainwashing) was so inspiring.

I know I’m building up to the most controversial book, but so far this series has really captured my heart. The themes are tragic and heart-wrenching, but the character development and relationships make it all worth it.

This book was a tough read for me. I was interested in seeing how Ky and Lilah's romance worked out after reading the first book. Lilah was indoctrinated into her cult teachings and Ky was a wild, womanizing MC. The cult stuff ramped up even more in this book and was too much for me. I also had an issue with the way Lilah's character arc went towards the end. I didn't love that she didn't receive mental health counseling, nor did her sisters. That was a big miss in my book. That being said, I loved the way that Ky introduced Lilah to the modern world and that Ky and Lilah got their happy ending.

CW: violence, cult activity, child physical and sexual abuse, rape, neo-Nazis

I liked in this book the difference between Lilah and her sister. I liked how at just one moment she didn’t just decide she didn’t believe in her religion, and instead braced a more loving side of it instead.

This one was not quite as good as book one, the characters weren’t as interesting or convincing but I still enjoyed watching their journey unfold! This series is very addicting and has sucked me in so deep, cannot wait for books 3 and 4!

And I thought the first one was graphic and Mae had it bad.... Poor Lilah😭 This shit physically hurt to read. You telling me that this wasn't even the worst to come? That Maddie had it worse??? Dear God, ready my heart. Cuz I mean I have to read it, Flame duhhh😂

Nah but fr fr, all my homies hate every single elder AND Cain cuz wtttffffff? He really supposed to have some damn redemption arc too😒. Ion give a shit if he got nowhere else to go or nothing to do; he still hell-bent on Mae for cryin' out loud

Sighhh, may just skip his book altogether. WHO GON STOP ME?😈

I liked this less than the first book. I felt like the focus here was all on the trauma Lilah endured and, to be honest, she came across as beyond saving. Then she does what she does toward the end and magically she is better? I dont know. It didn't track for me.

Lilah broke my heart over and over again, because her mind truly protected her from the trauma by being 100% indoctrinated. The fact that she found happiness at the end and was able to see The Order for what it truly is…

And Ky, our resident whore. Ain’t nobody have the patience like this man. He was gonna fight for Lilah, even when she could not.

2/5 on the spicy scale. A few sweet scenes we get, where Lilah finally experiences sex.

This book was very heavy on the horrors that Lilah went through.

WOW!!!! this book was A LOT. it was so dark and raw and heartbreaking. I loved Ky and lilah so much I couldn't put the book down. bad idea. this book is incredibly upsetting and graphic. I loved it way more than the first one, but it's wayyyyyyyyy darker. seriously... do not read it if you can't handle reading non-consent.
