It was my second book from that author. Also it didn’t kept me on my toes as much as the first one and the beginning was a tad slow. And the end felt a bit rushed.
I still enjoyed it and can’t wait to read/listen to more of her work.

I wasn't scared by the ghosts, but I did enjoy the overall plot and the twist too. It was a little bit crazy, but they were crazy, so it makes sense. The grandmother is one crazy woman!

Spoilers below:
Christine isn't even the daughter to May and Peter. May and Peter aren't married. They killed Christine's real parents in the bunker to have a child. I guess Christine found out and that's why she ran away. Tara almost dies in the bunker due to May and I assume Kyle was almost lured to drown. Luckily, Peter does the right thing in the end and let's Tara out. The other Folcrofts are now resting and hopefully are at peace.

I had the same problems with this book as I did the other Darcy Coates' book I read. The characters are colourless and thin. They have traits / personalities / likes and dislikes ascribed to them but the way the author writes the characters makes it them feel like a false veneer. Like pre-set computer game characters chosen by someone else. I also take issue with the strange setting... where in the world are they? There are references to mountain lions and bears in the forest, but other phrases and things occur that make it feel like it could be in Australia or the UK. It's like the author's effort to make it seems like it could be any place ... makes it instead feel like its in no place. Similarly, when they sit and have an evening of playing board games, there is a paragraph or so talking about the game but not describing what game it is or how its played. So strange. The horror was not scary. The story was well-plotted however, hence the two stars.

Decently spooky

Good writing, well-defined characters, and nice suspense. A little disappointed in the ending. Feel it ended too soon and should have given us a little more closure.

Great read

Kept me guessing until the end. Well put together and a great horror story, read it in the dark alone.

This one was really creepy to me but that might just be my personal fears...

I always love getting creeped out by all of Darcy’s stories. This one was good and it definitely was creepy but didn’t have me freaked out the way her others would. Still a great read
