What precious little objects we all hold dear. The thought of my things disappearing, not being there anymore not holding memories or emotions is heartbreaking and horrifying.

Yoko Ogawa is one of my favourite authors and yet, I am completely unable to articulate why. This is my 7th book by her, and still, her mind and what it does to mine remain a complete mystery.
The Memory Police let me be hopeful and left me utterly shattered. So unsettled. I really don't understand what I just read, but I know it'll never leave me. *It will not be disappeared.*

Once again, well done, Mrs Ogawa.

At times a 2 star experience, at times a 4 star experience. I had too high expectations from her previous works and buzz about this one. I liked the main idea about it all, and wish it could've been fleshed out more.

Didn’t fully work for me! Which was too bad because I was looking forward to this one. It was well written, but the concept felt too slippery and it was hard to look past. Also

boring that they started sleeping together tbh? There was no build to their romance and no hint to how either of them felt about him cheating on his wife. Felt lazy.

I did like the story within a story element.
