I did enjoy this book but found the title and blurb really misleading. I went in expecting a lot of hijinks related to the wrong choice of man. There were a couple of pages in the middle of the book and the miscommunication was resolved very quickly. The romance between the main characters was still fun to watch blossom but there are heavy topics covered that are not alluded to in the blurb or cover. Overall I did like this book but it wasn’t what I was expecting.

This is a decent CisHet Romance. I liked Noah though he is a tad too perfect. The ex-boyfriend Chris is abusive and that is never really addressed in the book, he is instead written off as not a great guy. Though everything he does is red flags and manipulation. Just no. But the main story is sweet even if it is nothing new.

I went into this fully expecting a love triangle trope, but surprisingly and a bit refreshingly that wasn’t the angle of this book.

Sometimes the characters could be a little lacking, but that’s mainly due to communication break downs. The reasoning behind Paige’s personality difficulties gets explained around half way in and that’s when it all sinks in. Noah is explained as a dreamboat character and don’t get me wrong, he definitely is but I felt like he could have had a little extra time and focus.

This book touched on some sensitive content which isn’t to be ignored, it did really well to highlight the viewpoint and feelings that Paige went through and is still currently coming to terms with.

Overall I enjoyed this book, it was a quick read that took me by surprise with its humour and I found myself being unable to stop reading.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I am a baker myself so a book about a baker written by a baker is an instant read for me.

A light cosy read with all the themes you would expect of a romance. McCulloch really knows what she's doing with the way to write a compelling female protagonist with the thoughts and feelings becoming of someone who is relatable. I'd recommend this book to others as a cozy getaway book with just the right amount of pages to be satisfied.

This is actually the first time I’m writing a review, so bear with me.

First of all, I just want to say that I can’t begin to imagine how hard it must be to write a book and get published. So I have lots of respects for authors. Also, opinions are subjectives.

My opinion of this book is conflicted. It’s a romcom so we all know how it’s going to end.

The MC did not make a lot of sense to me however. She can be extremely confident but so full of doubt and self-loathing, it stopped making sense to me at some point. The whole « people are grossed out by cancer survivors » puzzled me and sounded wild to me, but I’ve never been in this position, so maybe I’m just too privileged in that sense to think it credible.
Noah had so much potential but he was a bit too much in the background while Paige was busy punishing herself stupidly. The dude is so incredibly forgiving and patient, it’s uncanny.
Chris came in and left but served no real purpose to the advancement of the story after all.

The only real mix-up was picking the wrong man, but that brought nothing to the story line, she could have just decided to make him his target on her own and it wouldn’t have changed much to the overall plot.

And I’m sorry but it’s not funny or witty. Not really. Reviews on the cover grossly oversold the humour. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, or necessarily sad. But it didn’t make me -.

So, all in all, it was an okay book, I do not regret reading it, I just wished it was advertized differently.
