This book was honestly kind of rough to get through. I found the FMC so immature. I liked the inclusion of a chronically I'll side character though!

It's a Sophie Kinsella book!  It's like eating cookies or chips for dinner. I've fallen out of reading and I always know I can gobble up one of her books.  Still, it was funny and silly and light.  And good for her for calling out people being buttholes about invisible disabilities.

The audiobook was narrated by Fiona Hardingham.

I think this was just not the book for me. The insta-love of the characters was a little too unbelievable for me, Also the blatant disregard for red flags was eye roll inducing to the point that I just didn't want to continue reading.

I received a free copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

🌶️ Cute storyline that had me tearing up at some of the rough patches of a real relationship, and laughing out loud at the quirky situations. I definitely feel this story and dialogue would have played out far better as a screenplay movie/mini series -- this is because there were a significant number of unnecessary extra-side characters with names (such as named extra writers on the retreat, names of cousins visiting on holiday, names of drivers who appear only a couple times).

Also, the author uses a lot of exclamation points in dialogue and repeats phrases for idk emphasis? (like "not in all ways. Not all ways" or "I'm so glad. So glad"). Maybe thats how normal conversational dialogue is to show awkward pauses/beats, so it made me think this book would totally be better as a screenplay movie/series especially with all the characters. Those minor things pulled me out of the book a couple times and had me reading faster to get to the plot. I'm happy though it turned out a very happy ending overall.

i did not rlly vibe w this book or the characters. i liked the side characters way more. but it wasn’t horrible.

3.5 stars: I really enjoyed this book. It was fast-paced, funny and seemed fitting for a holiday read. The book didn’t mention much (if anything) about holidays but for me personally, it was a cute story like watching a hallmark movie.
