Love Your Life

cute book!! thought it was kind of unrealistic how quickly they fell in love and how purposefully oblivious Ava wanted to be about their compatibility? But it wasn't even that part that bothered me because how are you ever ~compatible~ with someone- IT WAS THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION LOL.

But still a very nice light read!! Very Sophie Kinsella-esque.

Spoiler Ava and Matt meet on a writing retreat where they have to be anonymous. They like each other- have sex- fall in love- and then get back to London and realize their lifestyles are drastically different. He's the owner of Harriet's House which is this dollhouse company, she's a freelance copywriter and has a bajillion passions but never finishes any of them. They eventually break up because CMMUNICATION (he was going to move to japan even though he didnt want to but wouldnt stand up to his family about that, etc). Ava went back to the writing retreat and finished her book. Matt quit the company and ended up being partner with one of his best friends. Both of their best friend groups ended up merging together. they got back together, HAPPILY EVER AFTER V CUTE

I mean this book had a cute premise and I was excited to read it but I felt the relationship was forced. There were things she didn't like about the MMC and they kept butting heads but since it was meant to be she kept forcing the relationship.

I really didn’t know if I was going to like this book by the ending. I really struggled liking the FMC - and the dynamic of her relationship with the MMC. BUT I am very glad that the book took the right turn, and went the way it did. In the ending it all wrapped up together and I enjoyed the lesson of the story.

This book was like eating a bag of crisps. Good at the time but full of empty calories. I enjoyed it at the time but it was ultimate chick-lit and nothing I will bother returning to.

I found the main character, Ava, a bit flaky and annoying and equally Matt was boring and staid. I didn't really care if they got together or not, the whole relationship felt fake from the start. I DID like the character of Topher though.

Where do I begin.... Aria/Ava is probably the most annoying character I’ve ever read. I cannot stand her naivety in the beginning, believing that she loves a man she just met and not even properly. She is delusional at times, sooooo picky and honestly if I were a guy, she would scare me off completely. And can I just say... the amount of times this author used the word indignant. I CANNOT! This story agitated me so much and had me rolling my eyes at every chapter. The only positive thing I appreciated were Ava’s group of girlfriends. I thought their sisterhood was endearing and the most realistic aspect of this plot. 100% putting at the back of my shelf.

I love the heroines that Kinsella creates and Ava is no different! Honestly, as I read this I half pictured the mismatched crew of Notting Hill as the circle of friends surrounding Ava and Matt! This was a fun read and provided just the right amount of distraction much needed by this teacher trying to keep it together during Covid.

A real highlight was Harold the Beagle. The mutt was just the right touch to be the catalyst for Ava and Matt and their relationship!
Enjoy this romantic ride, Kinsella rarely disappoints!
